Hand-Dyed Fabrics and Block Printing -
I have always loved art and have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember!  When my two daughters had grown up, I joined a local art group run by Barbara Pearman which broadened my horizons and opened my eyes to new possibilities.  I had already done a correspondence course with the Open College of Arts on Art and Design covering topics such as painting, drawing, sculpture, graphics and textiles and it was the inspiration of my tutor, Jane de Sausmarez, that encouraged me to look around for a structured textiles course.  I completed my City and Guilds Level 2 Textile Decoration course in 2009 at Missenden Abbey and since then have been experimenting with many different techniques, such as space-dyeing, ice-cube dyeing, shibori and indigo dyeing.  Take a look at my samples on the following pages.
I was introduced to block-printing by Jamie Malden of Colouricious and we have since worked on a number of projects together, combining my hand-dyed fabrics and Jamie’s own designs of hand-carved Indian wood blocks. Jamie also organises the most amazing textile holidays and I was fortunate to be able to go to India last month.  For me it was a life-changing experience.  Block printing workshops were organised for us but there was still plenty of time for sight-seeing and shopping!  If you love textiles, then visit the following hyperlink for details of a trip of a lifetime!  http://colouricious.com/textile-art-holidays-trips/
